‘Every idiot who goes about with “Merry Christmas” on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding and buried with a stake of holly through his heart!’

One of the best-loved Christmas stories of all time, A Christmas Carol tells of the ultimate journey of discovery for Ebenezer Scrooge, notorious miser and Christmas-hater. Visited by three ghosts, Scrooge is taken through his past, present and future in search of the true meaning of Christmas: is it too late for him, or does the festive season hold the key to his redemption?

Io Theatre Company returns to The Playhouse following the success of its 2013 Christmas show The Snow Spider (‘part pantomime, part narrative theatre and all total delight’ – The Stage). They bring the spirit of Christmas Past to life using their trademark mixture of live music and dynamic physical theatre, with a warmth and incisive humour taken straight from Dickens himself.

In turns thrilling and moving, A Christmas Carol is an all-singing, all-dancing treat for the whole family this Christmas.

If you’re aged 7-12, you can also enter our Christmas Carol writing and art competitions!

‘Every member of the audience was enthralled for the duration of this mesmerising, heartfelt and magnificent story.’ – One Stop Arts (on The Snow Spider)
